You can play this entire game without giving me anything. Sign in and the only things stored are an email, a display name, and the squads you build.
Who this is
Impossible XI ("the game", "the site") is an independent fan project built and operated by two people. This policy explains what information is collected when you use impossiblexi.com, how it is used, and the choices you have.

What is collected
If you play as a guest
Nothing identifying is collected. Your session is not saved to the leaderboard and no email or account identifier is stored.
If you sign in
Account information. Signing in with Google or with email and password stores your email address and display name through Firebase Authentication.
Game data. Squad names, formations, campaign results, ratings and private-league membership are stored against your account so leaderboards and friends leagues work.
Everyone
Local device storage. Your browser's local storage remembers preferences such as your last team name, sound and volume settings, and whether you have seen the tutorial. This stays on your device and is not transmitted.
Usage analytics. Aggregate, non-identifying information about how the site is used (pages viewed, which modes are played, roughly where visitors come from, and which link brought you here) may be collected to understand what to build next.
Technical logs. Hosting and backend providers record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and timestamps as part of serving the site securely.
How it is used
- To save your squad, campaign progress and overall rating to the leaderboard
- To display your team name on public and private league tables
- To let you create, join and compete in friends leagues
- To read and respond to suggestions submitted via the in-game wishlist
- To understand which parts of the game get used, so development effort goes to the right place
- To keep the site working and secure
Your information is not used to build advertising profiles by this project, and is never sold.
Cookies and similar technologies
The game itself uses browser local storage for preferences, and cookies strictly necessary for keeping you signed in. These cannot be switched off without breaking sign-in.
Advertising cookies. Where advertising is enabled on this site, third-party ad partners, including Google, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure adverts. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this and other sites.
You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at Google Ads Settings, and from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, which will not stop you playing.
EU, UK and Swiss visitors. A consent banner asks you to accept or decline non-essential cookies before any are set, and you can change that choice at any time from the banner's controls.
Third-party services
Firebase (Google). Handles authentication and stores game data. See Google's Privacy Policy.
Netlify. Hosts and serves the site, and processes standard server request data.
Google Analytics. Where enabled, provides aggregate usage statistics.
Google AdSense and its partners. Where advertising is enabled, ads are served by Google and any partner networks it uses, subject to their own privacy practices.
These providers process data on their own infrastructure, which may be located outside your country. Their handling of that data is governed by their own policies.
Data sharing
Personal data is not sold, rented or traded. It is shared only with the service providers listed above, to the extent needed to operate the site, or where disclosure is required by law.
Note that your chosen team name and squad are shown publicly on leaderboards by design. Pick a name accordingly.
How long data is kept
Account and game data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account and the associated personal data and leaderboard entries are removed. Aggregate, non-identifying analytics may be retained indefinitely.
Your choices and rights
- Play as a guest and provide no email at all
- Sign out at any time from the account menu
- Request a copy of the data held against your account
- Request correction of anything inaccurate
- Request deletion of your account and its data
- Decline non-essential cookies where the consent banner is shown
Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory rights, including under the GDPR or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act. To exercise any of these, email hello@impossiblexi.com from your registered address. Requests are handled as promptly as a two-person project reasonably can, and within any legally required period.
Security
Authentication and data storage are handled by Firebase, which provides industry-standard protections. No system is perfectly secure, and no guarantee against unauthorised access can be given. Do not reuse an important password here.
Children
Impossible XI is not directed at children under 13, and personal information is not knowingly collected from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, email hello@impossiblexi.com and it will be deleted.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the site evolves. Changes are posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date. Significant changes will be flagged in the game.
