Accepting these terms
By using Impossible XI (the "site" or the "game"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. These terms apply to everyone who visits, whether you play as a guest or create an account.
If you are under 18, you should have a parent or guardian's permission to use the site. The game is not directed at children under 13.
What Impossible XI is
Impossible XI is a free, independent, fan-made football knowledge game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with FIFA, UEFA, any national association, league, club, or any player. See the disclaimer for the detail on this.
Everything in the game, including competitions, opponents, fixtures, results and ratings, is generated for entertainment. None of it represents real, official, or predicted outcomes.
Your account
You can play as a guest with no account. If you sign in, you are responsible for keeping access to your account secure, and for everything done through it.
Choose a team name that you would be comfortable seeing on a public leaderboard. Names that are abusive, hateful, obscene, impersonate someone, or are designed to harass may be changed or removed, and repeat offenders may lose access.
You may delete your account at any time by emailing hello@impossiblexi.com from your registered address.
Fair play
The leaderboard is the whole point, so: do not submit scores obtained by manipulating the game's code, network requests, or stored data; do not automate play with scripts or bots; and do not create multiple accounts to farm leaderboard positions.
Scores that appear to be fabricated may be removed without notice, and accounts responsible may be suspended. This is a free game with no prizes, so there is very little to gain and it spoils it for everyone else.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its database, or any account that is not yours
- interfere with the site's operation, including through excessive automated requests, denial-of-service attempts, or attempts to bypass rate limits
- upload or transmit malicious code
- scrape, copy, or redistribute the site's content or data at scale for a competing product
- use the site for anything unlawful, or in a way that infringes someone else's rights
Content you submit
When you submit a team name, a wishlist suggestion, or feedback, you keep whatever rights you have in it, and you grant permission to display it on the site (for team names and leaderboard entries) and to use suggestions to improve the game, without obligation or payment.
Please do not send confidential information or ideas you expect to be compensated for. If several people suggest the same feature, it will be built without anyone being credited as its owner.
Intellectual property
The game's code, design, written content, name and logo belong to the site's operator. You may play the game, share screenshots, stream it, and make videos about it freely. You may not copy the game's code or clone the site.
Player names, club names, national team names and competition names referenced in the game are the property of their respective owners. They are used descriptively, to identify real footballers and their factual career histories. No claim of ownership over them is made or implied.
Availability and changes
The site is provided as an ongoing personal project. It may be unavailable at times, features may change or be removed, data may be reset, and the game may eventually be discontinued. None of this comes with notice or compensation.
These terms may be updated. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
No warranties
The site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
No guarantee is made that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that player data and factual information within it are complete or accurate. Club histories and nationalities are compiled from public sources and may contain errors. If you find one, please report it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the site's operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of or inability to use the site.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Third-party services and links
The site relies on third-party services, including Firebase for authentication and data storage, and may display advertising served by third parties. Their handling of data is covered in the privacy policy and governed by their own terms.
Links to external sites are provided for convenience. No responsibility is taken for their content.
Ending access
Access may be suspended or terminated at any time if these terms are breached, in particular the fair play and acceptable use clauses. You may stop using the site at any time, and may request deletion of your account and data.
General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. A failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These terms are the entire agreement between you and the site's operator regarding use of the site.
